Autism Assessments for Adults

Specialized, Compassionate, and To the Point

We specialize in providing adult Autism assessments led by experienced master’s-level clinicians who have devoted their careers to neurodivergent-affirming care. Our Autism-specialized assessors, Charnell Widnall LMHC, Jennica Robe LMHC and Ellie Thompson LMHC, bring years of advanced training and clinical expertise working with Autistic adults.

Whether you have wondered for years or are just beginning to explore your identity, our assessment process is designed to answer two essential questions with clarity and care:

  • Am I Autistic?
  • What traits and life experiences reflect that I am—or am not—Autistic?

We believe that understanding your neurotype is a profoundly empowering experience. We have witnessed assessments change the course of people’s lives in very positive ways, as they then take the time to understand how to live their best lives given who they are and what they need to live well.

We have made our process comprehensive and to the point. Learn more below.

What to Expect During the Assessment

Your Autism assessment will be a comprehensive and at the end you will receive an easy-to-understand written report that breaks down how your unique experiences do or do not meet the clinical criteria for Autism. This report will support your self-understanding in ways that are important to your well-being and will help you to communicate your needs to loved ones, workplaces, and other providers.  At your option, using the report to help others to understand your experiences can be really valuable for improving relationships with family, friends and colleagues.

Step 1: Preparation
Before your first session, you’ll complete an intake form and some easy, insightful online assessments. We will also send you a preview of the interview topics and sample questions so you feel prepared and supported before we meet—we want to make your assessment process as easy as possible. You are welcome (but not required) to reflect on the questions privately or discuss them with a trusted friend or family member beforehand.  We encourage you to do this in advance because it gives you time to really reflect on your experiences and ways of being.

Step 2: Clinical Interview (Two Sessions)
Your clinical interview, conducted either in-person at our Tampa, Florida office or via secure video call (available to residents of Florida, Maine, Idaho, Vermont, and Delaware), will take place over two separate 90-minute sessions. During these sessions, your assessor will ask in-depth, tailored questions to explore the full breadth of Autistic experiences — including social communication, sensory experiences, and lifelong patterns.

Please note that each of our assessors, apart from being specialized mental health counselors, are themselves Autistic—meaning they have lived experience with Autism, which is really, truly helpful in their assessment of your own life experiences.

Step 3: Feedback & Written Report
At your final 1-hour feedback session, we will walk you through:

  • Diagnosis Confirmation Letter (if criteria met)
  • Comprehensive Report that outlines how your experiences align with or not the formal diagnostic criteria for Autism.

You will leave this session with actionable insights, a clear next step if you choose to pursue additional support (i.e., if you want to explore how to live your best life as an Autistic), and documentation you can share with loved ones or healthcare providers.

Assessment Cost

The full assessment, including four hours of clinician time plus your written diagnosis materials, is $800 and you will pay it in steps as the process unfolds.  We do not accept insurance.

Important Information

  • Our assessment focuses exclusively on Autism. We do not assess for other mental health diagnoses or developmental conditions.  For this reason, our assessment will not be appropriate for everyone.  Our assessment is specifically designed for ADULTS who are wanting to know if they are Autistic in order to help better understand themselves.
  • Our assessors are licensed master’s-level clinicians.
  • Our reports are not intended for government services applications, which require much more wider ranging assessments completed by a licensed psychologist or physician.  (We can provide referrals if you are seeking those services.)
